GULFPORT -

The details surrounding the mystery behind a 95-year-old tombstone found behind a Gulfport man's house is coming together.

After seeing the story on WLOX News a relative of Mamie Ross contacted Charles Gay, the man who found it. We have learned the family is hoping to pick up the tombstone today and bring it home to put in their own backyard.

But exactly how the tombstone ended up in Gay's back yard is still a mystery. Mamie Ross has a tombstone at the Coalville Cemetery in Biloxi where she was buried in 1919. WLOX News talked with the caretaker of the cemetery who says the tombstone for Ross has been at the cemetery for as long as he can remember even prior to Katrina. He does not know anything about the tombstone for Mamie Ross found in Gulfport.
