WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) -

With 57 percent of votes Mike Smith replaces David Garcia as Waveland mayor. Mike Smith won with 723 votes defeating Jay Trapani who had 546 votes.

Smith, who is currently the city's fire chief won the Democratic runoff election against Brent Anderson last month. Shane LaFontaine, who ran unopposed, has been elected to the Ward 3 Alderman seat.

Jeremy Burke won the Ward 1 alderman seat with 213 votes.

Incumbent Ricky Geoffrey had 136 votes losing to Bobby Richardson's 228 votes. Richardson is now the Ward 2 alderman.

With four affidavit ballots that still need to be counted, there could be a change in the Ward 4 election results. So far, Brett Ladner has 108 votes and his opposition Charles Piazza has 106 votes.

Those four affidavit ballots could make a difference in that race. The affidavit ballots will be counted Wednesday morning at 10.

All elected officials will be sworn in Wednesday afternoon at 2 at Waveland City Hall.
