BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Could gas prices in Mississippi drop below $2 per gallon? According to an article on 247wallst.com, Mississippi is one of eight states experts are predicting gas to drop significantly soon.
The other states include Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Missouri and Tennessee. The article states most of the predicted locations have three things in common. These are the general drop in oil prices, all are close to large oil refineries and have low state gas taxes.
All eight states currently have gas prices under $2.60/gallon, according to gasbuddy.com. Right now on the coast, South Mississippians are paying around $2.50/gallon.
Triple A reports residents on the Mississippi coast paid $3.11 for a gallon of unleaded gas one year ago. The current national average for gas is $2.76/gallon.
