GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -
Everyone loves pancakes for breakfast, so why not enjoy them for a good cause? That's what dozens of people were thinking when they brought their families to Gulfport's United Methodist Church for a special pancake breakfast.
Riley Freeman, 2, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer four months ago. The breakfast was put together by family members to raise money for the Freeman family.
The turnout was bigger than expected, and Riley's mother, Lydia, couldn't be any happier for the support.
“I don't know. It's just overwhelming. We can't thank them enough. It makes me want to cry. I mean all of this. I didn't expect it to be so big,” said Lydia Freeman.
Thanks to the pancake breakfast, $3,000 dollars were raised for Riley. The money will go towards his medical expenses.
