BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Police have charged a Biloxi man in a string of auto burglaries, but his potential partner in crime is still on the run. Justin Scott Dean, 20, was arrested just after midnight and charged with five counts of auto burglary.
Investigators said they had been working several ongoing investigations involving a white Pontiac with a fleur-de-lis sticker on the back window.
Early Wednesday morning, someone called Biloxi Police and said a vehicle was being broken into in the Le Bonne Terre subdivision. An officer responding to the neighborhood noticed a white Pontiac with its headlights off leaving the scene. When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver turned into a cul-de-sac and crashed into a fence. That's when the officer noticed that infamous fleur-de-lis sticker.
The driver and a passenger of the vehicle, later identified as Justin Scott Dean, both jumped out of the car and ran away. But a Biloxi Police K-9 and other officers soon caught up with Dean. The driver is still on the run.
Inside the Pontiac, officers said they found firearms and stolen property. Dean was charged with five counts of auto burglary and bond was set at $125,000 by Judge Albert Fountain. He's also being held by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a probation violation and pending other firearms violations.
