GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - This day before Thanksgiving is a busy day at airports across the country and Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is no exception. Late morning saw a wave of travelers arriving from Atlanta and others preparing for departure.
WLOX News visited with folks flying in from West Palm Beach, Florida and Detroit, Michigan. All said their travels today were smooth and flights on time.
A woman arriving from Detroit was happy to see the warm sunshine of South Mississippi. It was better than the frigid weather she left behind in the Motor City.
If you are traveling by air this holiday, remember to bring plenty of patience with you. The Transportation Security Administration offers these tips to help you be "security-ready" when you arrive at the airport's security checkpoints.
- Have travel documents (tickets, boarding passes, picture IDs, etc.) out and ready for inspection.
- Coats and jackets should be off.
- Carry-on items, including laptop computers, should be ready for inspection prior to reaching the security checkpoints.
- Make sure that all firearms and ammunition are declared to airline ticket agents and properly stored in checked baggage. (Read more here: http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/firearms-and-ammunition)
- Do not wrap gifts!
