Power will go out while Hwy 49 repairs are underway

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Traffic on Highway 49 in Gulfport is being diverted at O'Neal and St. Charles after a Waste Pro garbage truck hit a power pole. It happened around 9am near the Golden Corral restaurant.


Mississippi Power crews are on the scene right now making repairs. Shortly before 11am, Mississippi Power Spokesman Bill Snyder told WLOX News that power would have to be shut off for about an hour while the repairs are completed. About 2,300 customers will be affected. The work should be finished in about three hours. 

As for the accident, luckily, no one was injured.
