George County Schools implement more training and safety measures

GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Following a two bus accident that injured more than a dozen George County School District students, the district is requiring
additional employee training and more safety measures.

According to the George County School District, the training will take place over the next few weeks.

All transportation policies and procedures with drivers, school administration and other staff members have been reviewed by district officials. Some of those policies and procedures have been revised to include additional safety measures.

School district officials maintain that student safety remains a top priority for George County Schools.

The two bus accident happened Wednesday, November 19. One George County School bus reared ended another on Highway 26.

Along with the students that were injured, one of the bus drivers was hurt and hospitalized. All those hospitalized have been treated and released.  

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
