BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A firework stand request was tabled by the City of Biloxi's Planning Commission at its meeting Thursday.
The owner wants to put the firework stand in the parking lot of Edgewater Village Shopping Center in December.
That area is R-B zoning, which is one of the requirements a seasonal firework stand needs to meet to operate in the city.
The shopping center's management agency sent an e-mail denying the applicant's request to operate there. However, the agency was not immediately available to confirm if negotiations are still underway to allow the stand.
The planning commission would have to approve the stand's temporary operation. Then, the city council also has to approve it.
This year, Biloxi created a conditional temporary use for fireworks standard. Part of the criteria is that the firework vendors only sell during specific time periods.
The request should be discussed at the next meeting on Dec. 4. However, by the time it is approved, it may be too late for the stand to operate in December.
