Good news for the Gulf States, $100 million in projects are funded to remedy harm and reduce the risk of future harm to areas affected by the 2010 BP Oil Spill. From Texas to Florida, state projects are being funded to protect the native life and the ecosystems of the Gulf of Mexico.
For Mississippi, $28 million will be used to restore lost marsh habitat, enhance and protect the habitat of our wildlife and strengthen the fishing industry.
The lion's share of the money will go to marsh restoration in St. Louis Bay, Back Bay of Biloxi and the Pascagoula/Escatawpa system. We agree that these and other projects must be done and paid for by those who did the harm. We have to revive and protect the Gulf of Mexico which is a huge source of jobs and economic growth.
