JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WLOX) - Trial has been postponed again for the two suspects accused of murdering and dismembering Jaren Lockhart.
Monday, Terry Speaks and Margaret Sanchez were in court. One of the defense attorneys filed a motion to suppress a statement made by a witness in New York. You may remember Speaks was just recently released from a New York prison where he was serving time for a separate crime.
The judge said he will make a decision on that motion next month.
Speaks and Sanchez are accused of killing Jaren Lockhart in June of 2012 and dumping her remains off the Bay St. Louis bridge.
Speaks and Sanchez are scheduled to be back in court in January for an evidence hearing. Both have pleaded not guilty to their part in the murder and will be tried separately.
