OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Officials with the Ocean Springs Police Department are looking for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman on the Biloxi Bay Bridge Friday night.

Detective Captain William Jackson said the victim told police she was walking on the bridge from the Ocean Springs side sometime before 8:45 p.m. when a man approached her, knocked her to the ground then sexually assaulted her.

Authorities say the victim described the suspect as a tall, thin black male between 30 to 32 year old. The victim said the man was wearing blue jeans, a grey jacket with orange accents and a blue baseball cap with “Miami” written in orange on the front.

Jackson said the suspect let the victim go, but followed her down the bridge on the Ocean Springs side. He said the woman was able to escape to her vehicle and drive herself home.

That is when her husband drove her to Ocean Springs Hospital, and they contacted police.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information leading to the identity of the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898 or Ocean Springs Police at 228-875-2211.
