JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Believe Children's Christmas Assistance Program is trying to help make sure no child in Jackson County has to wake up without a gift on Dec. 25.
Organizers say they are members of a community outreach group called Sisters, which usually does a toy drive. Since Sisters was unable to do it this year, some of the members were concerned about the families who usually depend on their help, so they decided to create a new program called Believe.
Believe starting taking applications at the Escatawpa Community Center this week and will be in Vancleave and Gautier in the coming weeks.
Organizers said they will be comparing the names of their applicants with those who have registered with other agencies to make sure there is no duplication.
Danielle Thomas will have more on the Believe program later tonight on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
