JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Thirty-two suspects are now behind bars after the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics seized marijuana plants in Harrison, George and 19 other counties across the state.
MBN Director Sam Owens said the arrests were part of the Bureau's annual campaign against marijuana growing. Using a Mississippi Highway Patrol helicopter and other aircraft, trained MBN spotters were able to get a bird's eye view of suspected grow operations.
Agents on the ground then seized 1,367 marijuana plants.
The MBN's outdoor domestic cannabis eradication program was funded by a grant from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and ran from April 22 to October 31 this year.
