Date set for 2015 MS Gulf Resort Classic

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Tournament officials have announced the dates for the 2015 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic presented by C Spire. The sixth annual tournament will take place March 23-29 at Fallen Oak in Biloxi and features the best players on the Champions Tour.

This year's event allows for more opportunities for area businesses to get involved and for the public to get up close and personal with players.
There will be more skyboxes added on the Par-3, 17th hole and a newly designated viewing area will be available on the 18th hole.

“Our mission is to promote the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said Roy Anderson III, Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic Foundation Board Chairman.
“Very few communities have the privilege of hosting a Champions Tour event.  This annual event gives us both a regional and international
stage to tell the area's story about our proud heritage, beautiful natural environment, first-class recreational and commercial fishing and shrimping industry, arts and museums, acclaimed signature golf courses and Las Vegas styled gaming and entertainment. The Mississippi Gulf Coast area, with its renowned southern hospitality, is a great place to live, and we want others around the region and the world to come visit and experience it for themselves."

All three tournament rounds will be featured live on the Golf Channel. Last year's tournament included nine World Golf Hall of Fame members, 20 PGA Tour Major winners covering 33 titles, and 22 Champions Tour Major winners covering 37 titles. Past champions include Jeff Maggert, Michael Allen, Fred Couples, Tom Lehman and David Eger.

Volunteers are needed with approximately 1,000 people working over the course of the week.

Anyone interested in volunteering in the tournament may register online at www.2015MGRC.com. Volunteers receive a volunteer package valued at $350 for their registration fee of $60. This includes their volunteer Nike uniform, credentials, a parking pass, tickets to the tournament, meals during shifts, an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party, and a complimentary round of golf at Grand Bear or a complimentary buffet from Harrah's Gulf Coast.  Also, for the first time ever, volunteers have the opportunity to play Fallen Oak as a part of one of four volunteer play days in the summer of 2015.
