On Tuesday, the people of Jackson County get a chance to decide who will be the top law officer of their county for the next year. Those who vote in that Sheriff's election will pick the person responsible for the security of the courts, the person who is responsible for operating the jail and running the entire Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
In Harrison, Hancock, Stone and other South Mississippi counties, those who vote will decide who will sit in judgment of others in the offices of Chancery Court Judge and Circuit Court Judge. Those who vote on Tuesday will also decide who will serve in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.
Those who don't vote will have no say whatsoever in who holds those offices.
