OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - The 36th annual Peter Anderson Arts and Crafts Festival is set to kick off Saturday morning, and that means road closures for downtown Ocean Springs.
City officials say this year's festival will have around 400 artisan vendors and live entertainment acts packed into the two day festival.
The following roads will be closed to traffic starting at 2 a.m. Saturday and will remain closed until 6 p.m. Sunday:
-Washington Avenue from Calhoun Street to Bienville Boulevard
-Government Street from Washington Avenue to Denny Avenue
-Porter Avenue from Bellande Avenue to Jackson Avenue
-Cash Alley from Government Street to Robinson Street
-Desoto Street from Cash Alley to Church Avenue
-Bellande Avenue from Bowen Avenue to Government Street
-Kotzum Lane from Bowen Avenue to Government Street
-Calhoun Avenue will be one-way going west from Washington Avenue to Jackson Avenue
“This festival is for residents and visitors to come and enjoy some of what makes the Ocean Springs both beautiful and unique. We look forward to it every year,” said Alderman Chic Cody, who serves as the city's liaison to the festival. “A lot of planning went into making this the biggest and best Peter Anderson Festival yet. The chamber staff and board are to be commended for their efforts.”
City officials recommend to way to get to downtown Ocean Springs from Highway 90:
-From Highway 90 westbound: South on Martin Luther King Ave.
West on Government St.
South on Magnolia Ave.
West on Porter Ave. or Calhoun St.
-From Highway 90 eastbound: South on Church St.
West on DeSoto St.
South on Jackson Ave.
East on Porter Ave. or Calhoun St.
Traffic officials said any vehicle parked in the festival area after 3 a.m. Saturday will be towed, but authorities will make every effort to contact vehicle owners before towing begins.
