HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The final suspect in the scandal that rocked the Department of Marine Resources pleaded guilty to embezzlement Thursday morning.
Kerwin Cuevas was sentenced to three years probation, according to the Circuit Clerk's office.
Cuevas, who directed the DMR's artificial reef program, faced two counts of embezzlement after being accused of using his state gas card for personal use. One count was dropped.
On top of the probation, Cuevas will also have to pay court costs, a $2,000 fine, and restitution.
