MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - Moss Point has come up with a new program to collect old fine money owed to the city. Police Chief Art McClung says his department is working with city leaders and the courts to allow those who owe fines to pay off their bills with community service hours.
The program is still in the works and is expected to start in December.
McClung says mostly people who are unemployed or have fallen on hard times will qualify for the community service program.
Recently, the board of aldermen hired a collection company to get millions of dollars in fines owed to the city. That collection process will start sometime in November.
