The general election is less than a week away and there are two Biloxians vying to be the Chancery Court Judge over Hancock, Harrison and Stone Counties for Place 3.
The incumbent, Sandy Steckler, has been a Chancery Court Judge since 2002. He also serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the 8th Chancery District courts, as well as for the youth courts in Stone and Hancock Counties. Steckler began practicing law in 1966. He also was a State Senator for two terms.
Challenger Ronnie Cochran has been an attorney for 32 years. Cochran was the City Attorney for Biloxi for 13 years and has been a law clerk for a Mississippi Supreme Court Judge, as well as two Federal Judges including the judge who presided over a majority of the Hurricane Katrina insurance cases.
