BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A contract was signed Thursday for the old Santa Maria del Mar senior retirement complex to become property of Barrington Development. The hurricane-damaged complex has sat vacant along Biloxi's beachfront since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Barrington Development Vice President Cono Caranna said they plan to transform the eyesore into a hotel. No word on how much money Barrington Development paid to purchase the building from the Catholic Charities Housing Association of Biloxi. Barrington Development is the same company that purchased and restored the White House Hotel in Biloxi.
Officials with the Catholic Diocese said it could take up to 120 days before the deal is completely finalized and closed out.
