OLA gunning for a three-peat in the Class I State Volleyball ranks

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - No team in the state has built a better winning reputation in high school volleyball then OLA.  Head coach Mike Myers has another solid team having slammed home 36 wins in 40 games.

Tuesday night the Crescents defeated Vancleave to take another step forward, one that could lead to a 9th state title.

Myers said, "What we do very well is pass the ball well and we set well.  So it doesn't matter how well you hit the ball if you don't have the supporting cast and fortunately we do."

Senior Brittany Corder leads the state with 514 attack kills, a solid all-around volleyball player. She had 18 kills in Tuesday's sweep over Vancleave. She believes OLA can bring home another state trophy.

"We try our hardest not to make mistakes, "stated Corder. "Focus on every pass, every set and we try not to get frazzled a lot.  So I think that gives us a good chance against other teams because we can keep our heads."

Emma Funk doesn't play like freshman.  Her 10 kills on Tuesday gives the talented youngster 275 kills on the season.  The Crescents have talent  sprinkled throughout the lineup.

Mikaela Hall a senior leads the state with over a thousand assists.

Resurrection also has an impressive won-loss record having running off 20 wins in 22 games.  The Lady Eagles only losses have come at the hands of Our Lady Academy.
