GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - It will be an emotional city council meeting for leaders in Gulfport Tuesday, as they honor a former council member for her years of service. Libby Milner-Roland is about to lose her battle with cancer. From her home, she will watch as her fellow public servants recognize her longtime commitment to Gulfport.
Gulfport City Council President Rusty Walker invited the public to attend Tuesday's council meeting, to help honor Milner-Roland. Tuesday morning he posted to Facebook, "I invite you to attend the City Council meeting of Gulfport for what I'm sure will be an emotional event. The Pier on the South side of Highway 90 across from West Side Park will be named the 'Libby Milner Roland Municipal Pier' in honor of our friend and public servant, Libby Roland. Libby will join us via Facetime from her home where she is under the care of hospice. Some of her family will be in attendance at the meeting and it would be nice to have all of you there, as well to celebrate and honor Libby for her life-long dedication to the community she loved."
Tuesday's City Council meeting begins at 1:30 at Gulfport City Hall.
