"It's so much going on right now it's hard to think of everything. Is it a good thing? Oh yeah, it's a good thing. I think it's a good thing," said Mayor A.J. Holloway.
Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway says the scenery of the city is changing, thanks to a long list of multi-million dollar development projects.
"Of course, the big thing is the Hard Rock casino, 200 million plus. The expansion of the Isle of Capri hotel, new barge,100 million plus, subdivision Hope six development probably around 90 million dollars there and Goosepoint subdivision on Edgewater Golf course is going be a major, major development. Savannah off of Brody Road in North Biloxi, a major development," said Holloway.
The list definitely continues with such projects as the Sea Breeze condos and the Caillavet Street development.
Thanks to the casino industry, the mayor says the city has seen this type of growth now for about the last ten years, but these developments mean much more to the city than simply more buildings.
"Increase tax base. It means jobs. It means prosperity for the citizens of Biloxi, and if anybody wants to work today in Biloxi can find a job," said Holloway.
And as for what he sees in the city's future?
"I see nothing but good things for the future. I think we will continue to see growth in the city. We still have some prime property available on the beach on Highway 90- starting from east Biloxi all the way to the city limits and I think something is going happen with the Broadwater property when it comes up for sale," said Holloway.
Mayor Holloway says the Broadwater property has the potential to be the finest resort casino destination in Mississippi, that is if a buyer comes emerges to re-develop the more than 200 acre site.
