GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A Gulfport man is behind bars after allegedly burglarizing cars in the parking lot of Memorial Hospital. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said Norman Lorenzo Ramsey, 31, is facing two counts of burglary of a vehicle.

According to police, officers responded to a burglary in progress at the hospital shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday. Papania said hospital security guards saw Ramsey rummaging through cars in the parking lot.

Officials said Ramsey ran from the scene when officers arrived, but he was later caught and arrested. Papania said authorities do not know if Ramsey took anything from the vehicles.

Ramsey is being held at the Harrison County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
