Harrison County Sheriff's Office receives grant to help solve crimes

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Harrison County Sheriff's Department now has an extra $150,000 to help solve cold cases. The money was awarded to the department through a grant from the National Institute for Justice.

Right now the department has more than 25 cold cases that date back to the 1970s.

This money will allow the staff to work overtime, travel and even afford to get DNA tests and other crime lab analysis done to bring closure to these victims and their families.
