Defending Class 5A State Champion Picayune is the No. 1 ranked team again this week following a 24-10 win over Pascagoula in a crucial Region 4-5A games last Friday. Coach Dodd Lee's Maroon Tide have now won 14 straight games dating back to the 2013 season. Picayune is 6 and 0 this year, 3 and 0 in region play. The Maroon Tide travel to Lucedale Friday night facing 5 and 2 George County. The Rebels are 2 and 1 in the region standings. The Rebels beat West Harrison 34-29 last week.
Oxford (6-1) is ranked No. 2, Wayne County (6-1) No. 3, New Hope (7-0) No. 4, and West Jones (5-1) No.5.
St. Stanislaus has held steady as the top-ranked team in the Class 4A state football ranks. The undefeated Rockachaws have run off 7 wins, 2 and 0 in the Region 8-4A standings following a 55-22 win over arch rival Bay High last Friday. Coach Bill Conides and his Rockachaws entertain Poplarville (6-1) Friday night in Bay St. Louis. The Rebels are tied with the Rockachaws atop the Region 8-4A standings with a 2 and 0 record.
Cleveland (8-0) is ranked No. 2 in the Class 4A state rankings. Noxubee County (6-2) No. 3, Florence (7-1) No. 4 and Corinth (6-2) No. 5.
Natchez Cathedral (7-0) is ranked No. 1 in the Class 1A state rankings. Coffeeville (7-1) No. 2. Resurrection (7-1) is No. 3 after blasting Stringer 42-7 last Friday. The Eagles lost to Cathedral 27-26 on September 19 on the road. Coach Scott Sisson and his Eagles have an open date this Friday. Nanih Waiya (7-0) is ranked No. 4 and St. Aloysius (7-1) No. 5.
Starkville (7-0) is the No. 1 ranked team in the Class 6A state ranks. South Panola (7-0) No. 2, Oak Grove (6-0) No. 3, Brandon (6-1) No. 4 and Warren Central (7-0) No. 5.
