BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Authorities say the gunman responsible for an East Biloxi murder Saturday afternoon shot his victim several times before fleeing the scene.
Anthony Wheaton was taken to the hospital from the residence on Dorries Street, but he later died from his injuries.
Witnesses managed to tell police which direction the gunman had fled and gave a description of his vehicle. Rodise Jenkins, 45, was captured within minutes during a traffic stop.
Neighbors on Dorries Street said Sunday they are still shaken by the deadly event. One man told WLOX News he's lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and had never seen anything like this.
"They had the yellow tape all marked all the way around over there. So it's not very pretty, let's put it that way, you know? I hated to see the boy lose his life, but it's the first time anything like that ever happened around here," resident Joseph Webster said.
Rodise Jenkins is charged with murder. He's being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
