BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Thousands of classic cars are cruising up and down the coast this week. But, one of those cars will be on the big screen soon. Jim Dozier bought his 1969 Corvette Stingray back in December, and months later it was on the set of a movie. “They were delighted to get the car. They couldn't believe I had it. They said, 'You have a red 69 convertible? Oh we need that desperately,'” said Dozier.

The Stingray is being featured in an upcoming film by best selling author Nicholas Sparks, called The Best of Me. It was shot earlier this year in parts of Mississippi and Louisiana. “When I first talked to them I told them that I would drive the car back and forth everyday to Louisiana. I wasn't just going to leave it with somebody I didn't know,” said Dozier.

After learning there would be around the clock security, and meeting the crew, Dozier became comfortable with leaving the car on set overnight. “Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden, and the director Michael Hoffman, those people are so sweet, just some of the nicest people you ever want to meet,” said Dozier.

Dozier and his wife, Betty, got to hang out on set, and they say it was quite the experience. “When you've never been on a set before and then all of a sudden you get out there, and you start seeing all the people, all the equipment, all the things that are involved,” said Dozier.

Dozier says in a recent interview actress Michelle Monaghan was asked about her favorite scene in the movie. He was surprised to hear, that it included the car. “She said, 'well there were a lot of good scenes but one day last week', James and I got to ride around in a 1969 corvette convertible. It was gorgeous. That just made my day,” noted Dozier.

The movie will be released in theatres everywhere on October 17. Of course, Dozier says he and his wife will be there on opening night. “Just about all of our friends and stuff want to go. Of course all of our families want to go. I got a feeling we're going to have to have quite a few seats when we get to the theatre,” said Dozier.

The movie is directed by Michael Hoffman.
