Full afternoon of Cruisin' activities on tap today

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

If you love to turn back the hands of time, this week is for you.  At least 7,000 vintage vehicles from yesteryear are expected to roll through South Mississippi at the 18th Cruisin' the Coast classic car showcase.

This is day three of the car party.  More car owners are pulling into town.  And they have more activities to enjoy.

This afternoon, some of the car buffs will park their vehicles at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport.  That will give military retirees a chance to see classic cars they may have owned once upon a time.  This is the first time the retirement home has invited cruisers to the Gulfport campus.

The Boyington is hosting its second block party.  That 2:00 event gives shut-ins a chance to participate in a Cruisin' the Coast activity.

The registration area at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport remains open until 5:00.

Once it closes, cars will move toward the Island View casino in Gulfport.  Tonight is when flame throwers will light up the evening sky, spitting fire from the backs of their vehicles.  That's always a big hit for car owners and the crowd.  The flame throwing begins at dusk.
