Mississippi State & Ole Miss claim football honors for the week

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Mississippi State junior quarterback Dak Prescott, Heisman Trophy candidate, was selected Athlon Sports' National Player of the Week for the second time after he piled up 356 yards of total offense in the Bulldogs 48-31 win over Texas A&M.

Prescott was also placed on the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for week six, presently each week to the player who had the most versatile performance in college football. He was also honored as a "Star of the Week" by the Manning Award.

Mississippi State sophomore linebacker Richie Brown of Long Beach was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week and the SEC Defensive Player of the week.  He tied a Mississippi State record with three interceptions in the win over the Aggies and became the first SEC player since 2008 to haul in three picks.

Mississippi State senior offensive lineman Ben Beckwith claimed SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for the second time this season.  He also earned the award after his performance in the LSU game.

3rd ranked Mississippi State entertains #2 Auburn in a crucial SEC West Division showdown Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in Starkville.

Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace earned Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Rebels past Alabama 23-17 on Saturday in Oxford.

The Pulaski, Tennessee native completed 18 of 31 pass attempts for 251 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wallace ranks second in the SEC in passing (304.4 ypg) and touchdown passes (14).

He'll lead 3rd ranked Ole Miss on the road at College Station on Saturday at 8 p.m. facing #14 Texas A&M.
