LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - The clouds thickened up. But, they didn't scare off an estimated 600 cars owners, as they rolled through downtown Long Beach Monday night for the city's traditional Cruisin the Coast parade.
Those car enthusiasts lined up in the Long Beach High School parking lot. At 5:30, they drove toward Jeff Davis Avenue. On either side of the parade route were South Mississippians who seemed eager to see the cars and catch any trinkets being thrown toward them. The end of the parade route as the Long Beach Harbor.
This is the 18th Cruisin the Coast celebration. What started with just 378 car buffs is now an event that attracts upwards of 8,000 car owners. If that many cars register at Cruise Central this week, that total will shatter records.
