"David Harris was such a kind person who cared so much for his family, including our community of Ocean Springs," said Mayor Connie Moran.  "I knew him personally while he was Director of the YMCA, and he touched many lives for the better. He will be greatly missed. The Board of Aldermen and I extend our condolences to his wife and family."

Ocean Springs Alderman John Gill said, "he dedicated a lot of his life to helping the YMCA and helping kids have a better awareness of swimming activities. He was a good man always friendly and warm and had a concern for the youth in ocean springs and the city itself."
