Gulfport road closures during Cruisin' the Coast

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

Cruisin' the Coast begins Sunday, October 5 and the City of Gulfport wants to make sure people are safe during the busy event. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania says his department's traffic division begins Sunday, October 5 at 7 a.m.

Gulfport police are temporarily closing parts of Gulfport's business district beginning Sunday, October 5 in preparation for "Viewing the Cruise."

Starting Friday, October 3, 14th Street closes at 23rd and 24th Avenues and 27th and 28th Avenues. The closure will last until Sunday, October 5 at 6 p.m.

Cruisers will have access for "Viewing the Cruise" at 13th Street and 28th Avenue. Highway 49/Highway 90, Highway 49 at railroad tracks and 24th Avenue/15th Street will serve as exits.

Any commercial vehicle traffic or oversized loads are asked to use the 30th Avenue corridor due to Highway 49 being closed to all vehicle traffic during the event.
