George County Rebels have reeled off 4 wins in 5 games

Head coach John Douglass has his Rebels on a roll. Following that Ocean Springs setback, George County has beaten Greene County 20 to 7, South Jones 45 to 7, Vancleave 26 to 9 and knocked-off Long Beach 47 to 14 on Friday in an opening round Region 4-5A confrontation.

So what's been the difference in 2014 as compared to the 2013 Rebels that posted 2 wins and 9 defeats?

Coach Douglass said."Offensive and defensive lines have really come on this year and contributed and have done a great job."

George County senior quarterback Blake Fields agrees. In Friday's win over Long Beach the 6-4, 185 pound senior rushed for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns, including this 80-yard gallop.

He completed 10 of 17 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. He says the offensive line is getting the job done in the trenches.

"They have really stepped up and give me a lot of time in the pocket and open up those gaps so I can run through them,"stated Fields.

Defensive back Tyler Jack says this year's Rebels football team has the right attitude thanks to head coach John Douglass who has plenty of.......

"Energy,"stated Jack. He added,"He brought more energy to everyone and we all pay attention. Nobody jokes around when he's talking. Everything is serious about business."

George County hooks up with Stone in Lucedale Friday in another Region 4-5A clash.
