SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - On Friday, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) announced recreational red snapper season will reopen in state waters every weekend in October as well as the first weekend of November.
DMR officials say MS state territorial waters will be open for harvest of red snapper beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday during these dates:
Oct. 3-5, Oct. 10-12, Oct. 17-19, Oct. 24-26 and Oct. 31-Nov.2
Each person is allotted a bag limit of two red snapper at a minimum size of 16 inches.
Anyone fishing for red snapper during this time is asked to take part in DMR's red snapper reporting program during October by clicking here: http://dmr.ms.gov/ or fill out an information card available at local bait shops.
