JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Traffic on I-10 is down to one lane and bumper to bumper headed over the Pascagoula River bridge this afternoon. Vehicles are backed up for more than two miles.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation temporarily closed one lane on the eastbound side of the bridge so crews could install navigation lights for marine traffic. The closed lane is for MDOT workers and their equipment.

The lane will reopen at 3pm today, but the same work will take place again Thursday from 9am until 3pm. If additional time is needed, work will continue next week.

Once finished, the navigation channels of the West Pascagoula River will be delineated for marine traffic under the bridge.
