OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Two men were injured following a crash Tuesday at the 3800 block on Bienville Boulevard in Ocean Springs.
According to Ocean Springs Police Captain William Jackson, Jacob Brown, 18, of Ocean Springs was headed westbound on Bienville Boulevard at about 55 mph. Traffic Officer Steven Dye says Brown possibly looked down for a second and left the roadway and headed to the right crashing into a tractor.
That tractor was driven by Ocean Springs Public Works employee Bruce Richard, 52, of Perkinston, Jackson said. Richard was reportedly ejected from the tractor and went through Brown's windshield.
Ocean Springs Public Works Director Andre Kaufman had this to say about Bruce Richard's crash:
"Bruce's brother Michael, cousins Johnny, Gerald, and Corey Groue, along with the rest of Public Works is quite shaken. While we have prayed together, we would ask that each of you do likewise. Also keep Bruce's family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this most difficult time."
Both Richard and Brown were transported to Ocean Springs Hospital with injuries. Jackson says Richard was last listed in serious condition with a right fractured ankle, head trauma and a punctured lung.
Jackson said Brown suffered a laceration to his face and was treated and released. Brown was given a citation for driving without insurance.
Kaufman says Richard was bushhogging off Highway 90 near the Public Safety building when the crashed occurred.
The crash is under investigation. Anyone with more information is asked to call Ocean Springs Police Department at 228-875-2211.
