PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - The Pascagoula School District is pushing the importance of learning math and science in a fun way. On Saturday, the family interactive center in Pascagoula was transformed into a science lab for the Mad Science Super Saturday event.
Engineers from Chevron, Ingalls and the Mississippi Power company also volunteered to educate the crowd. They created some fun experiments to show kids how science and math relate to everyday life.
School district Superintendent Wayne Rodolfich said hopefully the hands-on activities will get more students thinking about careers in math and science.
"We have a great deficit in this country for science and engineering. This is one of the ways we get to introduce a whole lot of different children and their parents to these careers. It's just a cool day for kids," said Rodolfich.
Super Saturday is held once every month during the school year. More than 1,000 people attended today's event.
