D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - For the fifth year in a row, the Civitan Club of D'Iberville and St. Martin has continued to host its Teddy Bears on Patrol program. The club collected nearly 200 teddy bears in its collection drive from students, other school and people in the community who stopped by.
The bear donations will benefit children that are in emergency situations. All teddy bears collected from the group will be donated to the Fort Bayou Volunteer Fire Department.
"What it's going to be is it's going to be a comfort for children involved in emergency incidents such as house fires, vehicle accidents and so on and so forth," said Fort bayou Volunteer Fire Department Lt. William Collier. "What it will help us do is establish a trust with the children involved in these things.
Besides the drop-off donations, teddy bear donations came from St. Martin High School's Future Business Leaders of America, students at St. Martin Elementary and the community service class at D'Iberville High School.
