Big games on tap for the Friday Night Football Showdown

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Two unbeaten teams and two rivals clash tonight.  In the Bay, home standing St. Stanislaus tackles St. Martin.  Both teams have run off 3 consecutive victories to open the 2014 season.  One team will suffer a defeat following tonight's Yellow Jackets-Rochachaws clash.

That game will be one of six featured games on the WLOX Friday Night Football Showdown at 10:15.  St. Stanislaus sophomore quarterback Myles Brennan enters the game as the nation's leading passer in the high school ranks.  He has completed 63 of 95 pass attempts for 1,105 yards.

The Yellow Jackets will counter will sophomore quarterback Wayne Overman who can do-it-all with his arm and his feet.  Overman has connected on 33 of 53 passes for 637 yards and has rushed for 284 yards.  Which ever defense can stand tall, will win the game.

Rivals Pearl River Central and Picayune clash in Picayune.  You can always expect standing room only when the Blue Devils and Maroon Tide clash.  Picayune (2-0), the defending 5A State Champs, are ranked No. 1 in the Class 5A State ranks and will receive a test from Pearl River Central (2-1).  WLOX will have game highlights on the Friday Night Football Showdown.

Both coaches have also agreed to be interviewed tonight on the Friday Night Football Showdown Post Game Show on which airs at 10:35.

We will also have game highlights from four other games: Pascagoula at D'Iberville, Moss Point at Gulfport, Bay High at Long Beach and Lumberton at Resurrection.
