GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

WLOX News has confirmed the two men who led police on a high speed chase through Long Beach and into Gulfport after allegedly robbing a bank have been captured with the help of K9 units. That is according to Gulfport Police Sgt. Damon McDaniel.

According to police, the Hancock Bank at the intersection of Beatline Road and Pineville Road was robbed around 2 p.m. by two black males.

Officials with the Gulfport Police Department tell us the vehicle chase ended near the intersection of 25th Street and Bullis Avenue when the suspects bailed out of a black SUV and ran into the woods.

Officials tell us Central Elementary School was temporarily put on lock down as a precaution, but the lock down has been lifted.

A WLOX News reporter on the scene tells us one of the suspects needs medical attention and is currently in an ambulance at the Gulfport Police Station.

We have a crew on the scene, and will update this story as more information becomes available on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
