BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Two patrolman on the Biloxi Police Department's day shift got their Friday off to an unusual start.  They had to wait for a tow truck to dig somebody's vehicle off the beach.

How that vehicle got sandwiched between the concrete boardwalk and the ramp that extends to the sand remains a mystery.

The officers said sometime before sunrise, the vehicle careened off Highway 90 at Debuys Road and got stuck in the sand.  The front bumper was gone.  And from the look of the back tire buried in a small, sandy crater, the back axle had significant damage.

The pickup truck had a Harrison County car tag.

A two truck company's flat bed arrived just before 7:00 am to unearth the vehicle and get it off the beach.

Biloxi police say more details about how the truck wound up parked on the beach will be released later in the day.
