Biloxi's Ronald Dupee returns to LSU as student assistant coach

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Ronald Dupree was a standout high school basketball player at Biloxi and went on to a very good career at LSU.

He played a number of years in the NBA and in Europe and has decided to return to LSU to finish his degree work and will follow the same path that led present LSU Tigers men's basketball coach Johnny Jones into the coaching ranks.

Jones served as a student assistant under the legendary Dale Brown at LSU during the 1984-85 basketball season and finished up his degree work.

Jones said,"We are excited about Ronald Dupree's addition to our staff as he continues to pursue his degree in electrical engineering."  He added,"Dupree has shown through our camps and clinics his passion and desire to be involved in coaching and we look forward to his participation with our basketball team serving as a student assistant coach this year."

Dupree said,"I am ecstatic to be able to come back, first of all, and finish my degree, and contribute to the LSU basketball program that helped so much with my career.  One part is giving back.  I am excited for our team, coach Jones and the staff and look forward to doing what I can to help us win and move to the next level."
