JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Two Vancleave men are accused of taking 1,700 feet of copper wire from the lighting system at Lake Mars Pier in Gulf Park Estates.

Robert Alton White, 27, and Brandon Dean Parnell, 28, are each charged with felony malicious mischief. If convicted, they face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Jackson County Sheriff Charles Britt said the men were arrested late Friday night, but investigators believe the wiring was stolen a few weeks ago. On August 18, someone tried to use the pier and discovered the lights weren't working.

White and Parnell are being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center pending an initial court hearing.
