BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - If you can't make it to your favorite sports team's game, the next best thing is gathering with your closest friends and showing your team spirit at your favorite bar. That was the case for thousands of people nationwide on the first Sunday of the NFL season.
With 29 TVs and 33 drafts on tap, Mugshots is one of the most popular places to be on game day in Biloxi.
"Mugshots and football just go together. We go together," Manager Glen Faust said.
Faust says once football season comes around, business is booming.
"We just get ready for a big day. It's a big day for us. We load up on our staff and crank up the volume, and the fans take care of the rest," said Faust.
Todd McCoy wasn't screaming Who Dat, but he does love football. He says meeting up with his friends for the season opening game is what it's all about.
"It's the atmosphere that we have, you know. This is kind of an annual thing that we do every first game of the year. We all kind of get here and hang out," McCoy said.
Kelli Pomierski says she was born and raised watching the New Orleans Saints. She says with Mississippi not having its own professional football team, the Coast has adopted the Who Dats. She too, loves the idea of gathering with football fans to cheer on her favorite team.
"Pretty much wherever there's going to be friends, people, family, a lot of excitement. That makes the game more fun than sitting at home watching it," Pomierski said.
As long as the Saints stay on the scoreboard, and hopefully make it to the playoffs again, everyone will keep screaming Who Dat.
"Go Saints! When the Saints do good, we do good," Faust said.
