OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - The long awaited repairs on the popular Front Beach sidewalk in Ocean Springs are now underway. On Wednesday, workers began cutting the concrete that makes up the old seawall.
The plan is for the rest of the crumbling sidewalk to be demolished and to add a new one that will attach to the seawall.
A Gulfport company won a $46,000 bid to do the job and has 30 days to complete it.
A 250 foot section of the sidewalk collapsed earlier this year when it was undermined during a high tide event. The project is being funded with a tidelands grant from the state.
