D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

D'Iberville leaders anticipate the new Walmart Neighborhood Market will open in the beginning of October. Construction on the building just started approximately four months ago.

Hank Rogers, D'Iberville Director of Community Development, said construction is still on schedule.

"We anticipate on the 29 of Sept. to give them a temporary certificate of occupancy," Rogers said. "Which allows, of course, Walmart to start putting in their fixtures and training their people. Sometime around the 14. of Oct., we anticipate that we'll turn over the certificate of occupancy, which makes it Walmart's building."

This will be the first market-style Walmart to open on the Coast. Rogers said the city anticipates the market's grand opening will take place within the weekend of Oct. 7.

The other Walmart Neighborhood Market is scheduled to open in Biloxi before Thanksgiving.
