A section of Biloxi's beach was closed Wednesday. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality closed the beach from St. Peter Street east to Dukate Street because of bacteria levels.
MDEQ said storm water construction by the city caused the problem. MDEQ is advising residents not to go into the water in that area and not to eat any seafood caught in those near shore waters until further notice.
MDEQ said it is monitoring the situation and will reopen that area when bacteria levels are at acceptable levels again.
