Last Sunday night, anyone connected to a TV, a cell phone or even driving down the highway was interrupted with an emergency notification of an Amber Alert. Authorities were seeking the help of the general public because a child had been abducted.
Some of those notifications got repeated over and over again to the point they became quite annoying. But the state authorities now say they are fixing that problem and the next time the alerts go out, we will not be bombarded over and over again.
We believe that this kind of alert system is good. It wasn't that many years ago that instant communication with so many people was simply not an option.
For those of you who are now tempted to turn off the emergency notifications on your phones because they are just too annoying - please reconsider.
The next time there is an abduction and you know about it, maybe you will be the one who sees something and helps to save a child.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org.
